*****First Week’s picks and fees are due by 6:30PM (CDT) on WEDNESDAY, September 8, 2010!!!****

Welcome to the 2010-2011 “Four Letter” Football Pool!

To ensure everyone has a fun and fair season, I am taking a minute to explain some things and note a few simple rules, especially since we have a few new players again this year!

We do not make money on this pool. However, we do take $14.95 to pay for the software out of the pool money.

And now for the Rules and Related Info!!!

1.	Each player submits $5.00 per week ($85.00 for the season) and that enters the player into three pools:

•	A Weekly Pool
•	A Season Pool
    A Survivor Pool

Weekly winners receive 50% of the weekly collection ($2.50 x the number of players). The remaining 50% is placed into the season pool.

Seasonal winners will receive the following:

1st place: 50% of the pool
2nd place: 25% of the of the pool
SURVIVOR pool: 25% of the pool

    2. EVERYONE MUST PAY BEFORE YOU PLAY! To ensure a player’s financial commitment to the pool, the first 4 weeks ($20) are due PRIOR to the submission of his/her WEEK 1 picks. Bottom line, if I don’t have your money, your picks will not be accepted.

    3. Beginning with WEEK 5, payments will be due in 4 week installments ($20), with the final payment of 5 weeks ($25) due on or prior to WEEK 13 picks. If an installment payment is not received on or before the week it is due, your picks will not be accepted until payment is made. HOWEVER...
The pool is a 17 week pool—if you have a bad week due to a random pick or a non-payment, it does not absolve you from any money you may owe for un-played weeks.

    4. All picks must be in by the deadline (24 hours before 1st game of week) as set forth in the list below. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE!!! If a player does NOT submit a pick by the deadline, a RANDOM pick will be generated. This can and will affect a player’s weekly and seasonal standing.

****NEW FOR THIS YEAR****
Reminders can be texted to your cell phone.

There are 7 weeks in which a game starts on Thursday and all starting times are different! Although we send reminders, it is each player’s responsibility to get your picks in on time!!!!

3.	Use the website to fill out picks and it will automatically email you (and the Commish) your picks. If you don’t receive an email there is a good chance they did NOT go through and you may want to call us. You can change your picks at anytime BEFORE THE DEADLINE EACH WEEK…to do so, just resubmit your picks. The latest pick sheet will be the one submitted.

4.	The pool is played with confidence points. Here is the Official Explanation:

Pool members must assign a number to each game based on how sure they are that their team will win. If they feel very confident about a team, they assign the game a higher number. If they are unsure, they give the game a lower number. If their team wins, they win the amount of points they assigned to the game. If they lose, they obviously do not collect any points.

Example: The Bears are playing the Packers. You are pretty confident that the Packers will lose this game. You pick the Bears to win, and on the Pick sheet, place a high number (like 14, 15, or 16), on the Bears. If you are NOT so Confident the Bears will win, place a lower number on them. If the team you picked to win DOES WIN, you get the assigned Confidence Points for that game. If the team you picked LOSES, you receive ZERO points for that game. The most Confidence Points determine the weekly winner. You can only use each value ONCE! The objective is to gain the highest number of points each week since the results are cumulative.

5.	There will be only one weekly winner, determined by the total confidence points earned in that week.
•	If there is a tie in the point totals, then the tiebreaker will be used .The player closest to the over total in the Monday Night game will be deemed the winner. If there is still a tie, then the player with the most wins for the week will win that week.
•	The tiebreaker for the season winner will be determined by the total wins for the season.
6.	Players’ picks for the current week will be posted on the “All Picks” page. This page will post after the deadline, prior to kickoff of the first game for the week.

SURVIVOR POOL RULES

The Survivor Pool is also known as the Suicide Pool. The object of the pool is simple: A pool member picks only one team each week. If they win, they move on to the next week. Once a member picks a team, they cannot pick that team again for the remainder of the season. The pool continues until only one member is left. Survivor pools are run "straight-up", which means a player’s team does not have to beat the point spread, it only needs to win outright. Each pool member gets "two strikes" or 2 wrong picks before they are out. Check out the rules below.
◦	On the weekly pick sheet, select one team that you think will win outright (no spread) that week.
◦	You can only select a team once throughout the entire regular season (each week select a different team).
◦	You will be able to view your prior selections on the pick sheet.
◦	If you don't make a selection for the survivor pool it will count as a loss.
◦	After your SECOND loss, you are out of the pool.
◦	This pool continues until there is only one player left, all remaining Survivors go out in the same week, or until the end of the regular season.

◦	If all remaining players are knocked out in any given week or at the end of the regular season there is more than one player left the tiebreaker will be the number of games lost within the survivor pool, (either 0 or 1). If only one player has no losses then he/she would be the winner. If there is still a tie or all remaining players are eliminated then the player with the most consecutive wins within the survivor pool will be the winner. If a tie still exists the pot will be split equally to all tied players.
